Our First Dance

Station Approach

I haven’t been myself of late
I haven’t slept for several days but
Coming home I feel like I
Designed these buildings I walk by

You know you drive me up the wall
I need to see your face that’s all
You little sod I love your eyes
Be everything to me tonight

The streets are full of Goths and Greeks
I haven’t seen my mum for weeks but
Coming home I feel like I
Designed these buildings I walk by

You know you drive me up the wall
I need to see your face that’s all
You little sod I love your eyes
Be everything to me tonight

I never know what I want but
I know whenI’m low that I need to be in the town
Where they know what I’m like and don’t mind

Golf day was ace
Thanks to everyone who turned out. For those of you who missed it on the telly, the Rest of the World was robbed of a glorious grandstand victory by some dodgy score keeping and gamesmanship from match referee Ormie (I am still gutted, I thought the trophy was all ours). Below is a photo of the nervous last hole showdown

(From left to right - me, Wayno, Bez, Ormie, Speno, Joe, JT, Hamish, Justin, Jen's dad, my dad, Ludge, Mauge, Adie, Side Show, Mike, Martin, Kev, Mal)

We then had a few beers in the Farmers and went into town. More (and bigger) photos are on the Flicker site

Thanks again for a belting time

The Day After

Plans for the day after the wedding are coming along. We have arranged with Ponyton Pool people that we can have a little shin dig on the Saturday afternoon. The plan is to meet at around 2pm in the car park of the sport club then walk up to the park together. We will bring along some sports kit, but if you have a frisbee or set of Boules please bring them along.

Also remember to bring something to drink and your butties. I dont think Jen plans to spend her first day of amrried life in the kitchen making ham sandwiches. Feel free to bring along anyone you know how might fancy an afternoon in sun. If it rains we will be in The Farmers all afternoon.

Hamster Jam

As part of Mal's best man duties, he organised a weak end away for a few mates from Pony Town and University. I thought we could have a nice break in rural France watching the Tour de France enjoying some cheese and quality red wine. Mal booked 2 nights in Amsterdam.

It was a fun filled, Heiniken fulled, action packed, cycling free, belter of a weak end. I would love to tell you more, but what goes on tour, stays on tour.

Really looking forward to the Stag Do Golf Challenge. Hopefully it will be as much fun as the away day.

John Lewis Fun

Best bit of wedding preparation so far, we went to John Lewis to set up our wedding list. Top fun which including zapping things with our own scanner, eating cake and choosing some cool things for our new home. Jen put on some sensible items such as a new football and a beach cricket set, but I was a a bit less traditional in adding things such as crockery and towels.

Hopefully some one will buy the Abdo Guard (Mens), not that I expect I will need it once I am married to Jen, but might help against fast bowling.

https://www.johnlewisgiftlist.com/giftint/JSPs/GiftList/BuyGifts/GuestFindAList.jsp

The list is set up on the website, but we have also suggested that we wouldn't mind books and CDs. Instead of getting us a card, writing a message in the inside cover would be ace.

Hello Laydees,
Firstly, a huge thank you to Sal for organising my hen-do in The Don. It was to be a smashing night (literally towards the end in Los Locos with my slippy hands; sorry for any sore toes in the morning). I was really blown away with you all being there and to Sal for arranging such a logistical feat.

The day began with cocktail making in Covent Garden and we didn't half come up with some delicious ones, especial chocolate liqueur and lime - yummy! I remember all of this bit, even the VERY embarssing truth or dare stories that I don't think I'll ever repeat (hopefully). Don't worry though, your secrets are safe with me.
And then we all hot footed it down to the beer boat for some Mr and Mrs quiz action. Unfortunately it's here in the evening that my memory fails me slightly but I think Dave and Sally sufficiently set me up! I've also been told since that some passing blokes were listening in from on the embankment - at least I might have been saved if I'd gone and fallen in. I think this is where I dropped my first drink as well

Just for laughs here's a picture of me the next morning. It may be shocking but it is only half nine and I did make it up and out with my first pint at 12pm waiting for Mr Ormiston to reach Mile 22 of his fantastic epic run.

I do remember bits of Los Locos. I think I managed to tell you all how much I really do love you all and feel very lucky to have had you all there. I'm so excited about the wedding and so glad you're all coming.
Love you all very VERY much
Jen

Hen Do

Jen recently went on a Hen Do with London girls (and few northern travellers)

She promises a full blog post accounting for everything she can remember from the night (which might not be much). However in the meantime here is a link to the photos.

I understand that stag dos can be a bit lively, and I expect a bit of tom foolery, however I dont want to end up like Crossy

Ormie's Fun Run

Went to watch the Fun Run for the last time. Ormie, one fo the ushers at the wedding was running. He got round in a very decent time considering the 25 degrees heat. I think he was asking Lydnsey that after running 26 miles whether he smells...

A Weekend At Bernie's, Cambridge

Dave's diminishing weekends of not being married, took him to the lovely city of Cambridge, the home of Dr Andrew Sumner, otherwise known as Bernie.

Dr Sumner acted as a guide with the help of a tube map of public houses.

Day Out with Grace and Eve

Grace and Eve came to see the Queen and Big Ben, so we showed them all the sights. Smart.
We started with a bus trip to Victoria, a walk past Scotland Yard, a stroll through St James Park and then a mosey to the river.

Grace and Eve managed to get themselves kicked out of a pub. Not even me and Ludge managed to be barred from the Beer Boat on a fun run day.

Next day we went around the Eye, stared out some Dinosaurs, watched some jugglers, climbed upa big hill and finally polished off a few burgers. Mmmmm.

Finally we wandered around St Pauls, across the wobbly bridge and down some slides. Top action.

A grand time was had by all, even though we had very tired legs

Wedding Car

Even though we are not moving from the Hollin Hall on our wedding day, Jen has found the car for our wedding

Ryder Cup Stag Do Challenge

The plan is to play pitch and putt golf "Up North" on Saturday 23 June. Then have a few local beers in Pony Town before a night out and a cuzza in Manchester.

I (Dave) will send details of hotels you can book and other arrangements nearer the time

My best man has organised an away day abroad, but due to numbers and logistics I have not been able to invite everyone. Hopefully as many of you as possible can make the Ryder Cup Stag Do Challenge.
